Вот и настал долгожданный момент обьявить результаты конкурса Ethnique Women-Legends

Хотелось бы от всей души поблагодарить за прекрастные работы всех художников которые приняли участие в конкурсе. Повторюсь, это был самый сильный и успешный конкурс за все время существования сайта. В течении конкурса было открыто более 150 випов и на голосование пришло 60 работ, которые размещены в этой теме

Brief Description of Image: Фея Моргана — волшебница, персонаж английских легенд о короле Артуре. В разных вариантах сюжетов наделена разными способностями и историей. Предположительно изначально была языческой кельтской богиней, или её образ был воспринят от водяной нимфы бретонских легенд... Персонаж таинственный и загадочный. По одной из легенд Моргана просит своего возлюбленного сэра Акколона похитить Экскалибур, в надежде, что тот победит Короля Артура в поединке. История складывается иначе. Однако главные герои в моей работе - это Моргана, сер Акколон и Экскалибур.

Наталья О'Шей или просто Хелависа, является лидером и солисткой группы Мельница. Люди, которые хотябы немного знакомы с ее творчеством, должно быть помнят этот дивный,тонкий,приятный голос. А тот, кто интересовался ее жизнью более близко, скорее всего был поражен тем, насколько это творческий,умный, талантливый и интересный человек. Ну а о ее красоте и говорить нечего, все итак видно. Все поклонники ее просто обожают и я в том числе. Лично я просто приклоняюсь перед ее образом и кучей талантов. Поэтому увидев тему конкурса понял что буду рисовать именно ее, именно тот образ, который засел в душу... Хелависа, играющая на арфе в национальном костюме. Ее не зря называют "Королева русского фолка" , песни переносят вас в ту средневековую пору и заставляют поверить что ценности тех времен еще живы в вас и окружающих вас людей. Разрешение на работу спрашивал у самой Натальи, и она оказалась не против, очень надеюсь что я не подведу ожиданий этой прекрастной леди.

Смысл работы в том, чтобы показать, насколько прекрасна Наталья и ее музыка. Показать, как все живое реагирует на эти восхитительные звуки. Это женщина, которая вдохновляет тысячи людей во всем мире на творение чего-то прекрасного.Энергия, которая исходит от нее на концертах, заполняет весь зал и умиротворяет всех окружающих. И невозможно не воздать дань ее неповторимому образу и искусству. Именно это я и постарался сделать создавая свою работу.

В мае 1883 г. в магазине фон Меля появилась очаровательная клиентка. Молодая дама, светская и состоятельная, мило грассируя, представилась женой известного психиатра Л., выбрала изделия французских мастеров на тридцать тысяч рублей, выписала счет и договорилась о встрече у себя дома. В назначенный час ювелир с коллекцией бриллиантов вошел в приемную доктора. Радушная хозяйка его встретила, взяла шкатулку, чтобы примерить сокровища к вечернему платью, и пригласила в кабинет к мужу. Когда ювелир настойчиво потребовал у психиатра оплаты счетов или возврата бриллиантов, его скрутили санитары и увезли в лечебницу. Как выяснилось к вечеру, врачу красавица представилась женой фон Меля, сказала, что муж свихнулся на "камушках", и оплатила вперед его лечение. Разумеется, аферистки и след простыл...

 

Сонька Золотая Ручка, по свидетельству очевидцев, не была красавицей. Но женщинам-обольстительницам не нужна броская красота, у них есть своя магия, свои приемы. Здесь не только артистизм и дар перевоплощения, они нутром чувствуют, как сделать послушным любого человека. Софья Блювштейн обладала этим природным даром сверх всякой меры, что и сделало ее королевой преступного мира Петербурга.

 

Сонька жила обманом, поэтому спустя 100 лет мы почти ничего не знаем о ней достоверно. По одной версии, она родилась в бедной семье парикмахера Штенделя. Мачеха над ней люто издевалась. В 17 лет несчастная Соня сбежала с юным греком, потом осталась одна, потом вышла замуж за одесского шулера Блювштейна, а когда тот оказался в тюрьме, сама занялась "семейным бизнесом", дабы прокормить детей. И в тюрьму-то она попала тоже из-за мужчины - взяла на себя вину молодого любовника. В общем, не жизнь, а жгучая мелодрама.

Brief Description of Image:

Антиопа последняя из цариц амазонок. Единственная амазонка, которая посмела бросить вызов традициям и избравшая путь любви. Но это решение приведет ко многим жертвам, одной из которых будет гибель Антиопы. Разгневанные столь возмутительным похищением своей царицы, амазонки взяли в осаду Афины, с целью отбить у греков свою царицу. И вот мученая чувством гнетущего долга перед своим народом, Антиопа выбралась из города через сторожевой пост с целью вернутся к амазонкам и предотвратить битву. Но сделав лишь шаг из города и увидев кроваво-красный рассвет она поняла, что ее бегство не остановит Тесея. Он восстанет против богов, лишь бы Антиопа была с ним. И наблюдая как встает солнце и начинается новый день, она дала клятву, что никогда не позволит себе бегства или предательства, и всегда будет по правую руку от Тесея. Даже если сегодняшняя битва будет для нее последней.

Brief Description of Image:

I've always loved working in watercolor. And I've always had an affection for fairytales. I was captivated by this young girl's obsession and ultimate demise. There was something heartbreaking in the way she ends - dissolving into sea foam. She gave up everything - her family, a nearly immortal life beneath the sea - for an ideal. I don't think it was the prince she fell in love with although he was certainly the catalyst. It was the abstract concept of love that held the fatal attraction, but she was too young to focus that feeling into something specific. Instead, the prince became the objectified embodiment of her desire. However, immature, unbridled desire can be dangerous - story after story focuses on this theme. Her story is no different and I was captivated by the thought of her end. Calm, resigned. A woman but with wisdom learned too late.

I decided to portray one of my favorite woman characters of all time, Dejah Thoris, pBurroughs she's a "slender, girlish figure, similar in every detail to the earthly women... Her face was oval and beautiful in the extreme, her every feature was finely chiseled and exquisite, her eyes large and lustrous and her head surmounted by a mass of coal black, waving hair, caught loosely into a strange yet becoming coiffure. Her skin was of a light reddish copper color, against which the crimson glow of her cheeks and the ruby of her beautifully molded lips shone with a strangely enhancing effect."

I decided to place Dejah on the rocks of Mars with her looking at the starry sky as she would wait for the return of her love, John Carter.

В детстве я много читала различных мифов и сказок. Особенно мне нравились мифы древней Греции. В них отражался потрясающий мир, необычный и притягивающий своей многогранностью. Конечно я была в месте с героями, сражалась, путешествовала, переживала и радовалась.

 

Селена-дочь титанов Гипериона и Тейи, сестра Гелиоса и Эос, прекрасная девушка в длинном одеянии , с крыльями. Иногда её изображали с венцом на голове и факелом в руках.Рождаемые ее затуманенным взором лучи, ниспадая на землю, сплетались между собой в сказочные узоры и образовывали какие-то фантастические строения. При появлении Селены море, охваченное беспокойством, с шумом катило волны на берег. И не было на земле смертного, не испытавшего с появлением Селены неясного томления и грусти. По воле Аполлона в часы Селены к людям с тонкой душой приходило вдохновение, и они прославляли полуночное царство, рассеивающееся с первыми лучами Гелиоса.

Красивый миф о богине. Поэтому мне очень хотелось передать её тонкий образ.

Brief Description of Image:

AEthelflaed, the eldest daughter of King Alfred the Great of Wessex, the only English monarch to be called "the great" and almost the last Saxon king of England. This Saxon princess was almost the last of her royal line and had her father and later she been defeated by their enemies she almost certainly would have been.

 

She, along with her brother, Edward the Elder, continued their father's legacy in driving the invading Danes from Saxon land. It is believed that even Boudicca while her husband, AEthlred, Ealdorman of Mercia was alive she was the true power in that country and after his death she ruled as the sole power for eight years as 'the Lady of the Mercians'. Uncommonly for most noble women of the time she was herself present at many battles as leader of the Mercian forces and today is believed to have been a great tactician as great as the other, more remembered British heroine Boudicca. In 918 after her death her brother took the throne of Mercia and became the first king of "England." AEthelflaed, whose name means "Noble Beauty" protected her family, her people and her country from invasion and should be remembered just as well as her father Alfred or the fictional warrior Beowulf as a true Saxon hero.

 

'AEthelflaed' was created in Photoshop over a period of several weeks working on and off. I love medieval history, especially Saxon England, and so I chose to paint a woman that meant something to me. I wanted the piece to be reminiscent of other traditional depictions of Britannia.

Отчасти вопреки этому, отчасти благодаря впечатлению от книги Кристы Вольф про колхидскую царевну, но в этот раз хотелось создать более спокойный образ Медеи.

"In Aztec mythology, Itzpapalotl ("Clawed Butterfly" or "Obsidian Butterfly") was a fearsome skeletal warrior goddess, who ruled over the paradise world of Tamoanchan, the paradise of victims of infant mortality and place identified where humans were created" - Wikipedia

 

Having always been fascinated with Aztecs since we studied them at primary school the elaborate costumes, apparently blood thirsty habits and legends as well as being set in what was always described as a tropical rainforest paradise I couldn't pass up this opportunity to illustrate one of the deities that made the Aztec's so interesting. I settled into a sketch fairly quickly, sitting Itzpapalotl in the rainforest using some of the bright colours that I remember so vividly from my youth, though something wasn't quite working so I started again and quickly progressed on it working in grey tones then adding colour over it. I tried to make her look a little creepy with the big hollow eyes but also believable as well as referencing one of the ancient pictures of Itzpapalotl both into my image and as a rough base for the pose as I believe that it would have had some symbolism in ancient times. I also added the water as the largest Aztec city - Tenochtitlan which is now where Mexico City stands was built on a lake as well as the pyramids in the background in which human sacrifices were done and it would make sense to me that an afterlife paradise would take all the best bits from the real world.

Brief Description of Image:

Я решила отразить в работе часть сюжета мифа и одновременно символично связь Рианон с лошадьми ( сходство) - установив ее в эту позу "лошади", в конюшню.

Ее "статус" передала через дорогое, но уже измученное платье.

 

Белая Лошадь на заднем плане - ее можно прочесть как еще одну отсылку к "лошадям", а так же это белая лошадь - она ехала на белой лошади когда ее бушующий муж увидел ее в первый раз.

В работе я попыталась передать ужас и комичную жестокость ее положения, которое она с покорностью принимает.

Солоха персонаж по повести Гоголя "Ночь перед Рождеством" или в фолке нерасторопная неряшливая женщина...

В повести она была ни хороша, ни дурна собою. Трудно и быть хорошею в такие годы". В повести Солоха показана отрицательным персонажем. Появляется неожиданно.

В жизни Солоха умела очаровывать самых степенных казаков. Она умела искусно обходиться с ними. "Ни одному из них и в ум не приходило, что у него есть соперники".

Она была хорошей хозяйкой. "…как не зайти к Солохе, не поесть жирных со сметаной вареников и не поболтать в тёплой избе с говорливой и угодливой хозяйкой…"

Brief Description of Image:

Lola Basyang (Grandma Basyang) was storyteller in the Philippines. Her Stories were first published in a magazine as a filler. The actual writer was a man named Severino Reyes who only used the pen name "Lola Basyang" because he thought it was unethical for him to put his real name in since he was editor-in-chief. The first story published was called "Periking's Flute". Soon though people requested for more stories from Lola Basyang.

 

There was an actual Lola Basyang who lived in Quiapo, Manila at the time who had inspired Severino Reyes. The old lady named Dona Gervasia Guzman de Zamora was revered by the children and would and gather around her to listen enthusiastically to her most fascinating stories.

 

The Stories of Lola Basyang has been adapted to radio, movies and TV series and prints of all her stories are still available.

 

Inspiration came when I saw one of my old storybooks. I enjoyed fairystories and grew up listening to them as my mum and my grandma used to tell me. Lola Basyang may not have the prettiness of youth but she doesn't fail to create an impression on the young because she can take children on a magical journey with her words. She maybe old and frail but it adds to her charm that even up until today, people still tell her stories, adapt them to tv, radio, comics and movies and the like.

This is an image of young girl in folk costume which is resting under the tree. I wanted to reproduce the atmosphere of warm summer day in Carpathian Mountains.

Brief Description of Image:

Samodivi are female magical beings in Bulgarian (and probably other Slavic) mythology that inhabit the realms of the mountains, particularly mountain streams, lakes, etc. They are said to be of great beauty and charisma. However, while they take care of mountain creatures, they are usually hostile to humans that have been unfortunate enough to loose their way and chance upon them.

 

A Samodiva can do a lot of harm (though she is capable of good deeds if she is willing to perform them) ranging from misleading strangers through enchanting them to change aspects of their personality to luring them into some far-away isolated forest corner and taking their eyes.

 

Samodivi also have the ability to control mountain streams, milk the moon and subdue to their will a fierce dragon-like creature that does a lot of harm to ordinary villagers. It is said that once he meets them, the only way for a man to save himself is if he is charming enough and skilful enough to engage the samodivi into dancing a traditional ancient folk dance all night long while he plays a flute-like instrument to them.

 

Samodivi take an important place in the oral folklore tradition.They are characters of numerous story because they contain within themselves qualities both bad (mischief, slyness, deception, lust , harm) and good (beauty, care for their home, the mountain, the strength and temperance needed to subdue horrifying beasts and strong will and determination). Thus they are an allegory of the multi-faceted human soul.

Пеппи ДлинныйЧулок - мой любимый сказочный персонаж, воплощение дерзости и свободы, лично мне она помогает не так серьезно относиться к "серьезностям" взрослой жизни и помнить, как, взрослея, не стареть душой (Peppy Long-Sock is my favourite character, she is a personification of freedom and latitude to me, she helps me not to be so loyal to the "seriousness" of adult life and to remember how to remain a child while growing up)

My submission is of Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, wisdom, and life. I've always admired paintings of her and thought he would make a great example of a majestic figure in Indian culture, rich in color and contrast.

Image Title: Persephone on Her Throne

Brief Description of Image:

I wanted to tackle a character with some kind of tragedy behind her and really enjoyed the story behind Persephone. Originally I was going with the idea of going very dark with a extremely scary version of her with half her face covered but decided that I would would instead remain faithful to the original character. Persephone never accepted the reality that she had to be the queen of the underworld thanks to Hades so she was noted as becoming extremely cruel toward him(obviously) and everyone else around her so I wanted to depict her as still beautiful but clearly turned darker...colder. I was looking at images of vampires thinking her skin would be pretty white since she is forced to live underground almost all year. In the end I wanted to depict her as someone that commanded respect and also show that only a tiny fraction of a soul was left in her. This is a Persephone that has spent many years in the underworld.

Танцующая цыганка с бубном. Цыгане — собирательное название около 80 этнических групп, объединённых общностью происхождения и признанием «цыганского закона». Единого самоназвания нет, хотя последнее время в качестве такового предлагается термин Romanies, то есть «ромоподобные».
